12-13 — Annabelle Iszatt This is not a Dune Ceci n’est pas une dune Cádiz, Spain Architect, Madrid, Spain LafargeHolcim Awards Next Generation prize Europe D’une recherche technologique impressionnante émerge l’idée d’un nouveau paysage pour la baie de Cadix. Alimenté par la force brute du soleil et du vent, le projet développe une stratégie à trois visages : un mur, une dune et un parc. L’objectif de cette approche littorale : sublimer les conditions géomorphologiques puissantes du détroit de Gibraltar au profit d’un lieu attractif et ludique pour la ville. Le mur, filtre pour édifier la dune, est aussi un lieu de vie (restaurant, bibliothèque, galerie d’art). Dans l’esprit de l’ancienne jetée, il reste un observatoire privilégié du site. La dune quant à elle, protégée du vent et des vagues par le mur, permet la création d’une plage dans un délai estimé à trois années. Enfin, le parc, pépinière du projet, en constitue l’arrière-scène. Powered by the raw energy of the sun and wind, the project develops a three-faceted strategy: a wall, a dune, and a park. The objective of this coastal approach: to enhance the powerful geomorphological conditions of the Strait of Gibraltar to create an attractive and playful place for the city. The wall, filter to constitute the dune, is also lively place (restaurant, library, art gallery). Reminiscent of the traditional pier, it remains a privileged vantage point of the site. The dune, protected from wind and waves by the wall, allows the establishment of a beach within an estimated three years. Finally, the park, the plant nursery of the project, constitutes the backdrop.
