The project brings an optimistic and compassionate vision to the densely populated neighborhood of Ambujwadi, in north Mumbai, through the implementation of multifunctional community towers. Thanks to acupuncture interventions, it reinjects the indispensable facilities and services of a tenable daily life (water and waste treatment, education, health, ...). Without disrupting the structure of this fabric, it creates vertical, multifunction hubs with a minimal footprint. The identity dimension of the approach is also strongly expressed in an inventive and playful architecture, built by local workers, with recycled resources - new landmarks that value the community and its neighborhood. Le projet porte une vision optimiste et bienveillante du quartier densément peuplé de Ambujwadi au nord de Mumbai, par la mise en place de tours communautaires multifonctionnelles. Grâce à des interventions d’acupuncture, il réinjecte les indispensables équipements et services d’une vie quotidienne décente (traitement de l’eau et des déchets, éducation, santé, …). Sans bouleverser la structure de ce tissu, il fabrique des polarités verticales aux multiples fonctions, mais dont l’empreinte au sol reste minime. La dimension identitaire de l’approche s’exprime aussi fortement dans une architecture inventive et ludique, construite par les ouvriers locaux, avec des ressources recyclées — de nouveaux repères qui valorisent la communauté et son voisinage.
