Poreform is adaptable so that the capture and release of water
can be applied locally, whether it’s a sidewalk curb system,
building perimeter, auxiliary basin or municipal basin.
Shown below in one possible configuration for a specific street
in downtown Las Vegas, the continuous surface weaves its way
through the city and morphs into high-capacity capture basins
at the critical flood intersections, transitioning from walkable,
cobblestone-like texture into large pools that collect and release
the water to the subterranean (or sub-surface) tanks.
Each adaptation has a unique volumetric capacity and
absorptivity, which can vary depending on the specific
hydrological needs of the site.
Compared to existing perimeter basins in the suburbs around
Las Vegas, the footprint-to-volume capacity of the primary
capture basin is four times more efficient. For example, the
tank captures one sixth the water volume of a typical perimeter
basin, but is 24 times smaller, making it a repeatable and
friendly neighbor.
